PROGRAM OVERVIEW ParksCorps volunteer work parties are coordinated by the Bainbridge Island Parks Foundation for the community to bring stewardship activities and improvements to parks and trails through fundraising events for island nonprofits. Your nonprofit brings people-power to an event that the Parks Foundation will plan with support from the Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District. We’ll help you schedule and organize a work party event. We collaborate with the Park District to raise awareness of park and trail stewardship and to provide community-activated improvements to our wonderful public places. TYPE OF WORK Your organization or club will be providing stewardship work in a Bainbridge Island park. You may be working to clear vegetation, spread gravel on trails, or clear invasive weeds. Tools will be provided by the District, appropriate to the planned goals of the work party. Only hand tools will be used for safety reasons. SCHEDULING Consider scheduling your volunteer event:
EARN MONEY FOR YOUR NONPROFIT The Parks Foundation expresses our gratitude for your volunteer service to the Park District and our local parks by making a donation to your nonprofit, for a value of approximately $14 per hour per service hour volunteered. (For example: if your non-profit brings 40 people to a 2-hour work party, the Parks Foundation makes a donation of $1,120 to your non-profit). GROUP SIZE AND SUPERVISION A Park District representative will manage the work party, which will be designed around the size of your group and the needs of our parks and trails. For youth groups, we request an adult volunteer to participate for every 10 youths (individuals in your program that are still students). You need only to bring your group of volunteers to the work party. Easier and more environmentally sound than a car wash, these work parties are an efficient team-building fundraising opportunity. We will all be working cooperatively for the health, beauty and recreational amenities of Bainbridge Island parks and trails! APPLICATION DEADLINE Applications are taken on a rolling basis. It's never too late to get involved!
