Become A Moritani Preserve Advisory Committee Member

 

The Bainbridge Island Parks Foundation (Foundation) and Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District (District) are looking for new committee members for the Moritani Preserve Advisory Committee. We invite you to apply to be an Advisory Committee member. 

Before completing the survey form below, please consider the following criteria:

  1. You are an individual who has an interest in the ecological health and bio-diversity of Moritani Preserve; 

  2. You wish to be an effective advocate and ambassador for the Preserve; and 

  3. You wish to work cooperatively with the public, other committee members and District and Foundation staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES of Committee Members:

A.   Advise and assist the District Liaison:

  1. Planning ongoing restoration activities under the guidelines set forth in the Moritani Preserve Ecological and Forest Management Plans.
  2. Developing annual budgets and Statement of Work as required by the Friends of Moritani Preserve Project Agreement between the District and Foundation.
  3. Identifying potential contract service providers for activities approved in the Statement of Work.
  4. Planning volunteer engagement opportunities that support annual Statements of Work.

B. Assist the Foundation Liaison:

  1. Identifying and soliciting potential funding sources for the implementation of the Statement of Work.
  2. Planning and implementation of the annual Friends of Moritani Preserve Labor Day Picnic.
  3. Marketing and community outreach in support of the Preserve. 

C. Advocate for Moritani Preserve

  1. Advocate for the needs of community park users and encourage public support.
  2. Advocate for the responsible use of the park.
